Meet Charlotte Westenra
Charlotte, one of our drama teachers, is an acclaimed Director, having worked as Associate Director on Piaf, Frost/Nixon (Donmar West End Transfer) and as Resident Assistant Director at the Donmar on Grand Hotel, Hecuba, Old Times, Henry IV, The Dark and World Music.
Theatre credits include Lower Ninth (Donmar at Trafalgar Studios), Decade (503), My Dad’s A Birdman (Sheffield Crucible), Shifting Ground (Unga Klara Theatre, Stockholm), Alice: Through the Looking Glass (C), The Obama Project (National Theatre Studio London/ Ingmar Bergman Festival Stockholm), As You Like It (Oxford School of Drama), After the Dance, Killer Joe, (RWCMD), We the People (Globe), Kiss of the Spider Woman (Donmar), Darfur- How Long is Never? (Tricycle), When Five Years Pass (Arcola), Gladiator Games- nominated for a 2006 Whatsonstage Theatregoers’ Choice Award and part of the season at Stratford East nominated for 2007 Olivier Award for outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre, Widows (Sherman Theatre), Female Parts (Contact Manchester), Waiting for Lefty – finalist for 2003 James Menzies Kitchin Award for Young Directors (BAC).
As Co-Director with Nicolas Kent: Bloody Sunday – Scenes from the Saville Inquiry she was awarded the 2006 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre (Derry Millennium Theatre, Belfast Opera House & Tricycle) and Justifying War (Tricycle).
