Students from the Docklands and Hackney branches wowed an audience of over a 1000 on Saturday 13th September at the Hackney Empire. It was a full house and a standing ovation congratulated the children at the end of the show.

Jermain Jackman, Winner of The Voice UK and former student, came on at the end to offer his congratulations and sang A House is not a Home.

The Variety Performance included numbers from musicals such as West Side Story, Matilda, the Lion King and Fiddler on the Roof as wellas a few contemporary numbers.

Cllr Sharon Patrick, The Speaker of Hackney said: "Another great show from the Anna Fiorentini Stage School. The show just gets better every year. The talent of the children and young people taking place is outstanding and would grace a professional show."

This is not surprising considering we hire top industry choreographers and musical directors to produce the show. And several of the young performers have had professional work, including leading roles in the West End's Matilda, Lion King, the National's Emil and the Detectives. TV jobs include EatsEnders, Rev, Top Boy, Hankzipper for CBBC. One of our students has also just finished working on a feature film working alongside Idris Elbra.

"As ever I am so proud of my students, staff and team. The professionalism of the show, and the standing ovation at the end, just highlights what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. Unfortunately such successful nights highlight even more how sad it is that we cannot get any major funding to support even more young people. But we will continue with fundraising events and hiring out our Performance Troupe in exchange for charitable donations" - Anna Fiorentini

All branches of the award winning Anna Fiorentini School re-open for the new term this week. Those that attend our Bethnal Green and North London branches will start rehearsing for their showcase taking place in February.
