Stop the Hate - Free Anti-Bullying Workshops
This half-term our team are coming to Chats Palace Arts Centre in Hackney and The Space Theatre in Tower Hamlets to give forty lucky 9 – 12 year olds the opportunity to put together their very own anti-bullying performance. They will use acting, song, and dance to explore the effects of bullying and how it can be combatted. This is all thanks to winning a grant from the National Lottery and the Big Lottery Fund.
According to the Annual Bullying Survey 2017, of the young people that have been bullied in the last year 37% developed social anxiety, 36% developed depression, 24% had suicidal thoughts and 21% skipped class.
These are worrying statistics, and something the Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School is committed to changing.
Anna Fiorentini, who has 23 years’ experience working with young people, has seen the transformative effects performing arts classes have on developing confidence and self-esteem and discouraging and learning to deal with bullies.
